Trimbakeshwar Narayan Nagbali Puja
The Narayan Nagbali Puja is a special ritual done only at Trimbakeshwar to deal with two specific spiritual problems.
The Narayan Bali part is for fulfilling the wishes of ancestors who are not satisfied (Pitru Dosh), and the Nagbali part is for seeking forgiveness for the sin of killing a cobra, whether in this life or a past one. This combined ritual is very effective in solving problems related to family growth, health, and money. Doing this puja at the Ahilya Godavari Sangam, near the Trimbakeshwar temple, ensures that the prayers reach both the gods and the ancestors directly.

Types of Narayan Nagbali:
This ceremony combines two main parts: Narayan Bali and Nagbali. Narayan Bali helps free souls that died suddenly or had things they wanted but couldn’t achieve, guiding them toward Moksha, which means salvation. Nagbali is another part of the ceremony meant to clear the sin of Nag Dosh, which is related to serpent affliction. Together, these two practices create a full process for spiritual cleaning, dealing with deep-rooted family and karmic problems in a person’s horoscope.
1. Narayan Bali Puja
The Narayan Bali Pooja is a deep Vedic ritual done to fulfill the desires of ancestors and help their souls reach salvation, called Moksha. This ceremony is mainly to remove ancestral problems, known as Pitru Dosh, which can happen if a family member dies too soon or if funeral rituals are not properly done. At our center, this ritual is conducted by Pandit Rudra Shastri Guruji, a well-known Tamrapatra Dhari pandit with more than 25 years of experience in carrying out true Shastric ceremonies. Many people go on pilgrimages to trimbakeshwar for a rudrabhishek puja, but those facing repeated issues in family growth, money loss, or health problems due to ancestral unrest should perform Narayan Bali.
2. Nag Bali Puja
The Nag Bali Pooja is a special ritual done to make up for the mistake of killing a snake, especially a cobra, whether it happened in this life or a past life. This ceremony is important for getting rid of Nag Dosh, or Serpent Affliction, which can cause unexpected problems, health issues, or mental troubles. The ritual takes place at the sacred Ahilya Godavari Sangam near the main temple, where specific prayers and offerings are made to ask for forgiveness from the serpent gods. With the expert guidance of Pandit Rudra Shastri Guruji, people can properly deal with these karmic issues. Along with Narayan Bali, this process helps in achieving full spiritual purification, bringing peace, success, and protection for future generations.
Narayan Bali Pooja Mantra
“शस्त्रघातमृताये चा स्पर्शस्पृष्टवा तथैव च तत्तु दुर्मरणम ग्येयम यच्चजातं विधिंविना।
अतःतस्य सुतै पौत्रे सपिंडैशुभमिच्छुभिः नारायणबलिं कार्यो लोकगर्धाभिया खग”
Meaning: Narayan Bali is primarily performed when a person dies due to firearms, suicide, fatal illness, a difficult life, ghost torment, untimely death (apamrityu), a series of events, or the curses of parents, wives, and in-laws, among other things. It’s a Kaamya karma situation.
Reasons for Performing Narayan Bali Pooja
This puja is mainly done to get rid of ancestral problems called Pitru Dosh. People perform it when they see repeated issues in the family, have trouble having children, face ongoing financial losses, or suffer from long-term health problems that doctors can’t explain. If someone in the family died in an accident, committed suicide, or passed away suddenly from illness, this ritual is necessary. It helps the soul of the deceased find peace and stops them from causing trouble for the living family members.

Importance of Narayan Nagbali Puja

Trimbakeshwar is the only place where the three-headed Linga represents Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, making it the best place for a ritual that deals with creation, protection, and transformation. Narayan Nagbali Pooja Vidhi:
The Narayan Nagabali Puja is a detailed three-day process.
Pandit Rudra Shastri Guruji makes sure every step is done exactly as it should be according to tradition.
Day 1: The ritual starts with taking a holy bath in the Kushavarta Kund.
Devotees must wear new clothes – a dhoti for men and a saree for women (avoiding black and green colors). After offering prayers at the Trimbakeshwar temple, the puja begins at the Ahilya Godavari Sangam. Guruji places gold idols of Shri Vishnu and Vaivasvata Yama. The rituals include Pradhan Sankalpa, Nyas, and Kalash puja. Ten pindas are made with honey, ghee, and sesame seeds and are offered on darbha grass. These pindas are then worshipped along with various deities like Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. The day ends with the pindas being absorbed into the water.
Day 2: The second day is called Sapindh Shradha.
After taking a holy bath in Kushavarta Kunda, the devotee wears the same clothes and worships Shri Vishnu. Brahmins are invited in an odd number like 1, 3, or 5. Five pindas are offered – four for the ancestors and one specifically for the body in the form of Shri Vishnu. Traditional donations such as clothes, jewels, or gold are given to the Brahmins to complete the rites that satisfy the ancestors.
Day 3: This is the final day, known as “Swastipunyahwachan,” meaning bad vibes have been removed.
On this day, Lord Ganesha is worshipped. A small golden snake idol is also worshipped and then given to a Brahmin. The ceremony ends with the bhog (food offering) and prasad (blessed food), often shared at the Brahmin’s home. The puja concludes with the final blessings of Lord Shiva, completing the Narayan Nagbali ceremony.
Benefits of Narayan Nagbali:
This ritual brings many spiritual and worldly benefits.
It fulfills the unfulfilled desires of ancestors, thus removing the burden of Pitru Dosh. Devotees often feel more peaceful, healthy, and successful in their careers.
